The Religious Formation Commission meets from
7:00pm till 8:30pm on the 2nd Monday of each month except July and
December.
2007 - 2008 GOALS
- Involve
parents in the faith formation of their child / children through
sacramental and inter-generational programming.
- Offer "Protecting God's Children" workshops and
maintain criminal background checks for all those who have contact
with children in the parish.
- Offer the Safe Environment Curriculum as
directed by the Diocese of Joliet to students and their families.
- Implement the diocesan program "In Service to the Master," catechist
formation programs through being a host site for a catechist initial
formation day and continuing formational opportunities.
- Work with the RCIA team to develop a structure
that can be used each year.

Develop programs to attract and maintain youth within the parish
community while continuing to develop a Youth Ministry Intern from
with our parish.
LONG RANGE/5 YEAR GOALS
- Expand on Adult Faith Formation opportunities to
include book studies, Ministry formation sessions, Why be Catholic
discussions, and Generations of Faith events.
- Work collaboratively with neighboring parishes to
minister to adults in their 20's and 30's through programs such as
Theology on Tap and Young Adult Catholic Hanging Together
activities.
- Evaluate the textbooks used in the kindergarten
through 8th grade programs.
- Investigate different forms of youth ministries.
- Continue to integrate peace and social justice activities into the
formation of all ages.
- Include programs that will be inclusive of diverse representation
of the parish population
RELIGIOUS
FORMATION
Our Religious Formation Program is directed by
Roberta Balsewicz.
Religious Formation is offered to
children from kindergarten through 9th grade.
The Program begins in September.
SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION
The sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are
normatively prepared for by children in Gr 2.
The process for the reception of Confirmation normatively begins in
Gr 8. The process can be completed in 1 year or continued until the
Candidate is prepared and all requirements are met.
All children receiving sacraments must have two consecutive years
of religious formation.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) |
RCIA is the continuing process by which men and
women become members of the Catholic Church. People form all
stages of their faith life come together to share in spiritual growth
and to explore the Catholic Christian tradition through scripture,
sacraments, church teaching, and social outreach.
